About the project

The context

International studies and research have found out that ICT companies’ workforce are, in general, lacking in soft skills. The focus of employers and Human Resources manager has traditionally been more on the technical hard skills needed in this field, overlooking those transversal and interpersonal skills which instead can play a large role in an organisation’s effort to reach their success. Day by day, leaders of these organisation are becoming more aware of the importance of soft skills but often they do not have the resources needed to properly train their workforce in this field. This is even emphasized by the crisis induced by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this context, the project SKILL aims to provide people involved in the ICT field (or willinging to be involved), mainly in SMEs, with the resources needed to enhance their soft skills fulfilling the segment’s demand. Read here to know more about our objectives.

If you want to know more about the issue, we invite you to read the research conducted by the partnership of our project.

Objectives

With our project we aim at providing workers of ICT SMEs with innovative learning resources in order to improve their soft skills making them ready to seize the opportunities of a labour market where companies are ever more interested also in transversal/non-technical skills.

In this context, the project SKILL aims to provide people involved in the ICT field (or willinging to be involved), mainly in SMEs, with the resources needed to enhance their soft skills fulfilling the segment’s demand. Read here to know more about our objectives.

The resources produced by SKILL are:

1

Identify soft skills shortages and knowledge gaps in the ICT sector through a needs analysis that will be conducted in all the partner countries.

2

A soft skills curriculum for ICT employees and entrepreneurs that incorporates
open pedagogies and define desired participant soft skill competencies, such as
critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving, and will specify the desired
learning outcomes.

3

Online digital soft skill learning resources for educators along with training on the most effective methodology to approach the theme with their students.

4

Learning scenarios, based on the proposed curriculum: This will help to enhance engagement and involvement of the learners. Learners will be required to apply their subject knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving skills in real-world scenarios.

5

Simulations and mini games used for the development of soft skills in the ICT sector based upon the proposed learning curriculum. These processes are particularly important in soft skills training, as they enable the employee to make decisions, act upon them, and witness the outcomes in a virtual environment rather than in real life, where a wrong decision or miscommunication can have an adverse effect.

6

Interactive learning area with user-friendly resources using an interface
containing all the other resources developed by the project.

7

A handbook to guide educators and learners on how to use the products generated from this project and on boosting education digitally.

Such resources are produced by taking into account the specific needs of the companies of the ICT sector which have been studied in depth during the early stages of the project. The results of such analysis can be found here.
